From 2002 to 2008, Mr. Aghazarian was a member of the California State Assembly, representing the 26th Assembly District, including San Joaquin and Stanislaus County. He was named Assembly Republican Caucus Chairman in 2006. During his tenure in the legislature, he served as Co-Chairman of the Committee on Ethics (2007-2008). While a member of the Assembly, Mr. Aghazarian honed his policy expertise as Vice Chairman for the Committees on Public Safety (2007-2008), Health (2005-2006), and Environmental Safety & Toxic Materials (2003-2004). He was the author of several bills seeking to streamline government, reduce regulatory red-tape and stimulate job growth. Because of his strong inter-personal skills, leadership qualities and policy understanding, Mr. Aghazarian enjoys a universal reputation for getting things done in a bipartisan manner.
Upon leaving the legislature, Mr. Aghazarian joined the Administration of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. He was appointed Commissioner on the California Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board. Because of his strong and intricate ties to agriculture industry, Mr. Aghazarian was named Deputy Secretary for Legislation and Special Assistant to the Secretary of Agriculture at the California Department of Food and Agriculture.
Since leaving the Schwarzenegger Administration, Mr. Aghazarian has been assisting clients with their governmental interactions. Through his guidance and counsel as legislative, regulatory and policy advocate, Mr. Aghazarian has been able to successfully affect policy decisions and regulatory actions for the benefit of his clients.
Mr. Aghazarian is a graduate of the University of Southern California and the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.
